So much to do

I feel like my hands are going to fall off.
80 graduation party invitations
50 graduation announcments
30 thank you for the donation cards from marathon.
Lots of stamps!
I got the rest of the thank you's and the invites out today.  I stopped on the way home from work to get another roll of stamps.  Yeah that is done!
Last night I had to run three miles on the treadmill.  I hate the treadmill, it took me 45 minutes........15 minute miles, yeah I was not into it.  Tonight I had to do two miles, the running Gods were smiling on me since the rain held off long enough and it only took 26 minutes.  13 minute miles, I was much happier.
Now we are on our way out to dinner.  We are meeting with Aleison, she is the little girl with leukemia that was our honored hero for the marathon I did two weeks ago.  It is her birthday so we are taking her out.  Hopefully I will get some pics to share.  Later I will tell you about our honored hero for the marthon I am training for now!

Another one

Hello everyone.  I am so sore today, my feet hurt, my legs hurt, everything hurts!  LOL!  After training for the marathon and acutally running the marathon I thought I was good to go.  But no that is not to be.  The coach had me take a week off of running after the marathon.  I started running again on Saturday.  We did 4 miles on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.  Monday is our day off.  (so are Fridays)  yesterday was a 3 mile day.  It was raining so hard after work I had to go to the Y to do the 3 miles on the treadmill.  It is really hard to start running again after doing a marathon.  After the last ones I had done I didn't run again for a long time, months actually.  So this running again a week later is difficult.  Sore muscles everywhere.  I found it very interesting that when I finished the marathon my abs hurt!  Why would my abs hurt???  I guess every muscle in your body gets a work out while running that far.  Today is only 2 miles so I should be good!  Back to 3 tomorrow and then off Friday.  6 on Saturday.  Saturday's will be the long runs.  I will keep everyone more updated during my training for this next marathon then I did in the last one.  If I miss a training day I will say so in here so you can all give me an ear full so I will not want to miss it again!

The next marathon that I am doing is The Nike Women's marathon.  It is October 19, 2008.  I am also running this one for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I need to raise alot more for this one than I did the last one.  This one I need to raise $3500!!  That seems so scary!  But I have faith, I will do it.  I also want to finish this one in under 5 hours.  That is going to take some work!  That is why I can't miss workouts so I am going to make myself accountable!  So if I miss you all yell at me?  Deal?

If anyone would like to donate please do.  I need all the help I can get.  Here is the link to donate:

Ipod

Jimmy  had this on his journal and since I love my ipod so much and just wanted a chance to listen to it I decided to play along.

To use his words:

Put your IPod or MP3 on shuffle and list the first 8 songs that play.... tag 8 other people to do the same. If you don't have an IPod or MP3 then make shit up. You might think about moving into the 21st century by getting an IPod or MP3 player of some sort.

1. Why don't you and I?  Santan

2. Bubbly . Colbie Caliet

3. Legs. ZZTop

4. My oh My.  The Wreckers

5. Under your clothes. Shakira

6. It's raining men.  The Weather Girls

7. Would I lie to you? Eurythmics

8. Its all for you.  Janet Jackson

Now I don't want to put my ipod away...............probably won't go over so well at work so I have to put it away.

I am not going to tag anyone personally but if you want to play along please do so!!

Monday

I just love this picture !  It was made out of cherries!  Sue made it when she was out with her Mom and Aunt and took a picture of it.  I love it!  I can't believe that is how far we ran!

This is the whole Michigan team that went to Traverse city to run the marathon.  It was so much fun having a large team to run with.  It kept you motivated as you were running to hear someone else going by yelling "GO TEAM"  It really was alot of work to finish the marathon but it was so very rewarding to finish it!  All the fund raising (which is by far the most difficult part of it!) and training is worth it!

Here is Sue and I finishing!  Yes that is a beer in our hands!  Sue ran the last 12 miles with it in her pocket!  A man sitting outside his house along the course gave us  each a beer and we shared one and she carried the other one so we could open it as we were finishing.  She also dumped it over my head when we crossed.  I didn;t know that was coming but, it felt good!  I was so hot and tired.  My hands, feet and face were all swollen and burnt!  But like I said, worth it!

I have already signed up to run another one.  This one is in October in San Francisco and to make it even better, I have gotten a friend (Brenda) to do it with me.  I will be making new donation letters and I have a new web site!  Why am I doing another one???  BECAUSE WE STILL DON'T HAVE A CURE!!!!  I will continue on with my mission until a cure is found!

The marathon

I was really hoping that I would have the pictures from the marathon by now so I could post some of them when I did my entry but they have not loaded them onto the site yet so I will have to do the entry without them and then post them as soon as I get them!

I finished the marathon!!  Yea!  It took me six hours and passing out at mile 20 but I finished!  The marathon course was awesome.  It was along the water the whole way.  13.1 miles out and 13.1 miles back.  The view was gorgeous and the houses along there were spectacular!  The weather was the best that we could of asked for!

The  week before  the marathon I had been having some issues with getting dizzy.  I don't mean just a little dizzy, I was getting dizzy to the point where I had to crawl to the bathroom because I couldn't walk and I was nausous from the dizziness so I wanted to get to the bathroom but couldn't walk.  I finally went to the dr. on the Monday before the marthon and found out I had a virus in my inner ear.  She gave me antivert to control the dizziness but there was nothing she could do for the virus, it just had to run it's course.  I was worried about it since the marathon was in five days!  By Thursday I was feeling much better, the dizziness had pretty much resolved and I was feeling like I was ready for the marathon.   I drove up on Friday afternoon.  The pasta party was great, I was impressed with how good the food was.  There were over 100 of us from the Michigan Chapter of the Leukemia Society running in the marathon so there were alot of people at the dinner.  After dinner we went to the bar in the hotel and I had one beer and then I was off to bed.  I laid all my clothes out and pinned my number onto my shirt.  I acutally slept quite well that night to my surprise!

When I woke up the next morning I got dressed and went down to the lobby to meet everyone so we could head over to the start of the marathon.  Sue and I hung together since we were running the marathon together.  I told her I wouldn't leave her behind no matter what and she told me she would stay with me too!  Team work at it's finest!  We lined up and the gun went off and we were off.  Sue is a race walker, she is not a runner  and I am a runner not a race walker.  So I had to do a slow run while she race walked.  She knew she was going to have to do some running in this marathon because we had to finish the race in six hours or the finish line closed up and we wouldn't get a medal.  So when she was running I was running a bit faster than normal.  We were moving along really well for over half the marathon.  At mile 7 a man was sitting in his driveway drinking a cup of coffee and he hollered for us.  Sue asked him for a drink of his coffee (jokingly) and I said forget the coffee get me a beer!  He said he would give us a beer on our way back.  On the way back my sock was all bunched up and I needed to fix it, Sue said we were close to where the man's house that would give us a beer so we made it to his house and he was there.  I sat down on the chair and fixed my sock.  He acutally went and got us beer.  Two of them.  Well we opened one and took a sip and Sue took the other beer and put it in her pack that she was wearing around her waist.  And we were off again.

Around mile 18 I started feeling dizzy.  I did not have my antivert with me and I had not taken it that morning so I was a little worried.  At this point the running coach from Team in Training was with us and he was running along beside us.  I told him how I felt and he said to let him know if I felt like I was going down.  Around mile 20 I knew I was going down.  I told them.  Sue and him grabbed me and caught me before I fell.  I think they wanted to pull me out of the race but there was no way I was going to do that when I had come that far.  I explained that I didn't think I was dehydrated, that I had had this ear thing.  They decided to let me sit and cool off for a few and take goo (ewww) and drink gatorade.  After about 15 minutes I felt fine and we were still on track time wise to finish to get a medal.  We did awesome for the rest of the marathon and when we got to the track (the marthon finished on a high school track) Sue pulled that beer out of her pocket!  I laughed cuz I had forgot about it.  She popped it open and we crossed the finish line together holding the beer.  When we crossed she poured it over my head!!  LOL!  That beer was foamy and warm!

Lots of pictures were taken but I have to wait for them to be sent to me.  I can't wait to see them!  I will post them as soon as I get them.

We had a victory dinner that evening.  Very fun with line dancing and food and drinks.  The dj was great!  I didn't sleep so well that night, as the pain was beginning to start!  I woke up early and took another ice bath and then drove the 3 hour drive home.  I didn't do much that day when I got home but hang out at the camper and stretched.  I did go for a few short walks with my husband to keep from getting stuck in one position.  I felt much better on Monday.  Tuesday was back to work and I feel really good now.  The only problem that I am having is swelling in my legs.  I am not sure how long that will last for but I am hoping it goes away soon cuz it is kinda irritating!   Now all's I have left to do is send out all my thank you cards for everyone who helped and then it will be on to the next marathon!!!!!

On my way

I am on way out the door to head to the city my marathon is in.  It is about four hours away.  Tomorrow morning at 7am the gun goes off!  Wish me luck.  I have my lucky shirt with my girls names on it to keep me motivated and pictures of them to pin on it tomorrow morning.  I should be good.

Countdown!

Well I am on a countdown now.  My marathon is Saturday!  I am so excited about it.  I will be leaving on Friday afternoon to drive up to Traverse City.  The whole team (Leukmia and Lymphom Team in Training) will be meeting at 6:30 for the big pasta dinner.  That is always alot of fun.  They have honored heros there that speak.  Get ya crying and all pumped up about running 26.2 miles the next day!  If anything is gunna get you pumped up for that it is the honored heros.   We have to meet around 5am Saturday morning to go to the race start and the race starts at 7am.  Later that evening is the Victory party.  That will be alot of fun also.

We took our camper up to the camp ground on Saturday also.  Mark no sooner got it all set up and a big wind storm blew through.  It ripped the awning off the camper and blew it up on the roof.  Mark thought for sure there was going to be a hole in the roof but there wasn't.  Still have to get new arms for the camper though.  That is going to cost quiet a bit but at least it didn't rip it or put a hole in the camper.  The parts for the arms of the awning should be in this weekend so I am sure Mark will be fixing that on Sunday.  The camper looks naked without it up!!

I am really looking forward to having a three day weekend.  Everyone will be at the campground for the holiday weekend.  I will be coming home from the marathon either Saturday night or first thing Sunday morning, depending on how I feel!  We are having some family come to the camper for a bbq on Monday.  I am hoping that is isn't to warm for the marathon but it can be hot all the rest of the days!  Nothing worse than running in 80 degree weather.  When we were in Florida a week ago I was running in the heat there and it was HARD!  I hope it isn't in the 90's on Saturday!  I would feel like I was back in Florida!  I will finish no matter what it is like though!

Well I am off to do some laundry.  Talk to you soon.
